Baypark Speedway Promoter, Willie Kay, was honoured recently by the speedway National Governing Body, Speedway New Zealand, for services to speedway.
Willie received a standing ovation from all 23 speedway track promoters and delegates at the Speedway New Zealand Annual General Meeting held in Wellington on presentation of his life membership award. Willie joins a group of only eight recipients who have received this award in the history of speedway in New Zealand.
In his acceptance speech Willie said “he was delighted” and told the audience that the award was one of the highlights of his speedway involvement.
