Dear Schumacher fan club

FerrariLogo_1.JPG

A Schumacher fan I am not.  That was until last week.  The announcement of the return of Michael Schumacher to drive for Scuderia Ferrari replacing the injured Felipe Massa is the most exciting thing to happen in a great season of Formula One racing.

This has the potential of being a significant point in the history of Formula One.  The return of arguably the greatest driver F1 has seen will have a profound effect on the championship, the current drivers, spectators and fans around the world.

What has been a great F1 season so far with the introduction of new cars, slicks, new teams on the podium and exciting racing, the championship is now at a pivotal point.  Brawn GP is falling back into the pack, Red Bull are the fastest team but may trip up and BMW have given up!

Meanwhile we now have seen the resurgence of both Ferrari and McLaren.  Lewis Hamilton has won McLaren’s first GP of the year at Hungary and Ferrari will also win at least one GP this year with their improving form.

Add Schumacher into the mix and wow!  Image if he won Ferrari’s first GP this season.  It would be extraordinary.

Is Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen excited?

“For me it makes no difference who drives the second car. I don’t think it is 100 per cent sure that he will drive as he is still checking things out. But it will be nice to have him as a team-mate. It nearly happened before,” he commented at a pre Rally of Finland press conference.

For Raikkonen, Schumacher could be seen as a threat. As one of the highest paid drivers on the grid, if Schumacher brings Ferrari glory it could be a humiliating experience for Raikkonen.

Now as a Schumacher fan I can’t wait for the Valencia F1 GP in three weeks time.  Let’s see him do well and preferably win some Grand Prix’s.
